At present, a seismic survey is conducted by the common depth point method for the first time at the Alat-Deniz field to clarify the geological structure based on sediments in the productive layer and in the lower layer, the State Oil Company SOCAR told Trend.

In addition, the company noted, the work by the pulsed neutron-neutron logging method has been carried out in 36 wells, and the additional oil-bearing intervals have been determined in order to monitor by geophysical methods the development of the Gum-Deniz, Darwin Bank, Guneshli, “Neft Dashlari” ("Oil Rocks"), "Pirallahi", "Palchyg Pilpilesi", "Bibiheybat", "Buzovna-Mashtaga", "Gala", "Lokbatan", "Ateshgah" and "Saadan" fields.

As a result of successful work, a significant economic benefit has been obtained, SOCAR stated.

The State Oil Company noted that the exploratory-appraisal drilling operations were carried out jointly with foreign companies with to the depth of 9,703 meters in 2017.

"The exploratory-appraisal drilling operations were carried out by SOCAR’s own resources at the exploration well No. 78 at the Bulla-Deniz offshore field and at the exploration well No. 29 at the Gunashli field, and also jointly with the Umid-Babek Operating Company at the exploration well No. 16 at the Umid field,” SOCAR said in a statement.

The company noted that as a result of the exploratory-appraisal work carried out in 2017 at the expense of SOCAR’s own resources and jointly with other companies, the geological structure of the areas and their oil and gas prospects were determined and, in accordance with hydrocarbon indicators of industrial significance, an increase in reserves for fields was achieved.
