The Iranian Energy Ministry intends to add 598 MWts of electricity obtained from alternative renewable energy sources to be used in parallel with thermal and hydro power stations for provision of the country with electricity in summer next year, IRNA reported.

Taking into account the volume of electricity produced in the peak period of this year, approximately 8,000 megawatts of electricity will be needed in peak periods in summer of next year.

The Iranian Energy Ministry has envisaged to benefit, to greater extent, from the alternative renewable energy sources in addition to thermal and hydro power stations in order to eliminate the above-mentioned deficiency.

The additional energy from the alternative renewable power stations, namely 102.4 megawatts from wind power stations, 437 megawatts from solar power stations, 14.4 megawatts from biomass power stations, 32.6 megawatts from small hydropower stations, as well as 11.4 megawatts from energy recycling stations will be transferred to the national electricity grid by the mid-May next year.

Thus, 598 megawatts will be added to the volume of the produced alternative renewable energy.
