The Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) is expanding the area of oil and gas exploration in the Turkish provinces, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, TPAO obtained a license for oil and gas exploration in Adiyaman Province in south-eastern Turkey. It was noted that TPAO applied to the Ministry in June 2019 to obtain the license.

A law was passed in Turkey in April 2014, allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks.

According to the report of the Ministry of Energy, a total of 56 wells have been drilled as part of the exploration of new oil and gas fields in Turkey since 2014, 54 of which are onshore and two are at sea.

Turkey also plans to create a new company for the exploration of oil and gas abroad, which is expected to work in Central Asian and African countries.
