Since September 1, 2019, the import of used equipment, power step-down transformers, electric motors, as well as energy-consuming equipment of energy efficiency category D will be prohibited in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the national IA of Uzbekistan Uza.uz.

This measure will be introduced following the decree of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev "On accelerated measures to improve energy efficiency in economic and social sectors, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the development of renewable energy sources”.

JSC Regional Electric Grids will ensure that the procurement of electrical equipment and installations, as well as components and materials for enterprises of territorial electric networks is carried out centrally.

The President instructed to approve the methodology for determining indicators of improving energy efficiency and saving fuel and energy resources by October 15, 2019. By October 20, a list of economic sectors should be compiled in the context of energy-intensive enterprises to further evaluate their energy efficiency and save fuel and energy resources.

By the end of the year, it is expected that targets will be approved to increase energy efficiency and save fuel and energy resources by industries in order to achieve savings of at least 2.4 billion kWh of electric energy, 2.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 20,000 tons of oil products in 2020–2022.

In world practice, most household goods, from light bulbs to automobiles, should have an energy efficiency class. Energy efficiency is indicated by classes from A to G. Class A has the lowest power consumption, G is the least efficient.
