The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) is constructing a 12.5-kilometer long section of the East-West gas pipeline with a diameter of 500 mm in Kobuleti, Trend reports with reference to the corporation.

At this stage, the pipes are welded at the construction site. The work is carried out by the Turkish company Özsoy Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş., the winner of the tender announced by the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.

Last year, the corporation has already built a 45-kilometer part of the 60-kilometer section of the East-West gas pipeline in Kobuleti. The project cost is 4.55 billion lari.

After the completion of the construction of the 60-kilometer section of the East-West gas pipeline, it will be possible to satisfy the growing demand for gas in the Adjara region.

The East-West gas pipeline renewal and modernization program, implemented by GOGC since 2010 with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is carried out with the aim to increase its throughput, as well as to improve the technological reliability and stability of the functioning of the unified gas supply system of Georgia.

Özsoy Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş was founded in 1976. The company specializes in energy conversion and installation work in industrial facilities and is the first engineering company to receive ISO 9001:2000 certification in Turkey.
