Trend:

Iran has expressed readiness to cooperate with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in the strategic Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, said the managing director of Iran Maritime Organization Mohammad Rastad.

"Iran is ready to establish an office for this purpose and provide facilities to expand IMO presence in the region. If the International Maritime Organization approves the plan, more details will be discussed," said Rastad, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Technical cooperation with IMO, specially empowering women in the maritime society, can reinforce the ties in the region," he said.

"The IMO can create a new section on its website where member countries can share their experience to improve regional cooperation," he indicated.

"IMO can use the cooperation of member countries and support of organizations and industries to improve and provide financial sources," he said. "The IMO member countries can also provide facilities to implement works of the Integrated Technical Cooperation Program (ITCP)," he said.
