Some 56 million cubic meters of gas will be extracted from the 14th phase of the South Pars gas field, which is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar, in late January, Mohammed Mehdi Tavassolipur, executor of the 14th phase of Iran's South Pars gas field development project, said.
“A, B and C platforms were installed on the 14th phase while platform D will be installed by January 20,” Tavassolipur added, Trend reports referring to the National Iranian Oil Company's website.
"The operations have been completed at seven out of 11 wells drilled on the 14th phase and this week 14.2 million cubic meters of gas will be extracted from seven wells daily," he said.
Tavassolipur said that the construction of a gas processing plant has been completed by 82 percent on the 14th phase.
"The first facility of the plant is expected to be commissioned next spring," the project executor said.
Presently, 630 million cubic meters of gas may be extracted from Iran's South Pars gas field daily.
After new platforms are commissioned at five phases (13, 14, 22, 23 and 24), gas production volume will increase up to 680 million cubic meters daily.
The South Pars Gas Field is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves have reached 51 trillion cubic meters of gas and it is possible to extract 36 trillion cubic meters of gas.
