By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

A 54-megawatt power plant was put into operation in Rafsanjan county of Iran’s south-eastern Kerman province, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry.

“Some 18 million euros were spent for the construction of the power plant,” the ministry added. “Each unit of the six-unit power station will generate 9.2 MW electricity.”

“The commissioning of this power station will contribute to the development of the downstream industry in Rafsanjan county,” the ministry said.

“Moreover, a 10-megawatt Mahan solar power plant was also commissioned,” the ministry said. “As a result of the operation of this power station, 5.7 million cubic meters of natural gas and 4,371 cubic meters of water will be annually saved. There will be a decrease in CO2 emissions by 13,700 tons.”

“In total, 4.8 trillion rials (about $113 million) were spent for these two projects,” the ministry said.

Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian attended the opening ceremony of those power stations.

A decision was made in Iran to implement 227 projects in the water and power sectors by using 330 trillion rials (about $7.8 billion) in 31 provinces in the second half of this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019).
