Platform 24B ready for operation at Iran’s South Pars gas field

The platform 24B of the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar) is ready for operation and transportation of gas to refineries, said Abdollah Mehrabi, director of the offshore section of the phases 22, 23 and 24 of South Pars gas field, Trend reports referring to the National Iranian Oil Company’s website.

Mehrabi noted that the torch of the platform 24B started operating Feb. 9 with the opening of well No. 4 and this platform is ready to deliver gas to offshore refineries.

“With the launch of the final platform of phases 22, 23 and 24 in the coming days, the project related to the development of these phases will be completed and 56 million cubic meters of gas will be extracted daily,” the director said.

Presently, platforms 14A, 14B and 14C produce a total of 42 million cubic meters of gas daily.

According to the target set for the development project of Phase 14 of the South Pars gas field, with the full commissioning of this project, 50 million cubic meters of sweet gas, 75,000 barrels of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur, 1 million tons of liquefied gas and 1 million tons of ethane will be extracted.

The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field have reached 51 trillion cubic meters of gas (36 trillion extractable).

Presently, 630 million cubic meters of gas may be extracted from Iran's South Pars gas field daily.

After new platforms are commissioned at five phases (13, 14, 22, 23 and 24), gas production volume will increase up to 680 million cubic meters a day.
