Solar panel station commissioned at tea plantation in Iran

A solar panel station was put into operation on a 20-hectare tea plantation in Gilan province in northern Iran, Chairman of Iran Tea Organization Habib Jahansaz said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Jahansaz, 300 million rials (about $7,100) were spent on the installation and commissioning of this solar panel.

Jahansaz added that the solar panel station will provide electricity for irrigation systems in the area and the electricity needed in general.

The official said that it is very profitable to provide tea plantations with such panels.

Jahansaz said that 8,000 hectares of tea plantations in the northern provinces of Iran have been provided with modern irrigation systems.

There are 55,000 tea farmers in Iran's Gilan and Mazandaran provinces.

More than 135,000 tons of tea leaves are planned to be harvested in Iran this Iranian year (starting March 20, 2020).
