Iran's Mapna Group is to implement electrification plans in railway and air sectors alongside public transportation, said Mapna Managing Director.

"The process of electrification of vehicles should be facilitated since it is environmentally friendly and would reduce fuel consumption," said Ali Abadi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He noted that the first electric car charging station will be launched in the city of Mashhad in the near future and Mapna Group is prepared to provide the necessary equipment for electrification of vehicles to domestic automakers.

"Vehicle electrification needs infrastructure. The power network infrastructure is ready and charging stations should be installed," he added.

Abadi went on to add that the company's plans in Iraq are ongoing and the Iraqi government has cooperated well so far.

The official noted that importing power plant equipment would harm domestic producers while no permit has been issued so far.

"The number of power plants in the country is sufficient, while Mapna is installing 12,000 megawatt power plants," he added. “Lack of cohesive export plan or development strategy in power industry that causes over production would not be economical.”
