An inflow of oil was received at Bekturly East onshore site in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region, Trend reports with reference to KazMunayGas (KMG) National Company.

KazMunayGas signed a contract for exploration of hydrocarbons at the Bekturly East site on June 17, 2015. In 2017, KMG has introduced new exploration technology at many of its facilities including new low-frequency vibrators and high-resolution wide-azimuth seismic surveying. The technology was tested at the Zhetybai, Bekturly East and Ozen-Karamandybas facilities, allowing KMG to better locate exploratory drilling locations, and, in the long term, significantly improve exploration and production drilling success ratios.

The company said that the fountain oil inflow was obtained as a result of a comprehensive geological and geophysical study of historical data, basin modeling, high-tech seismic surveys and optimal placement of the BV-1 exploration well from the Middle Jurassic interval.

Currently, a complex of field geophysical and hydrodynamic studies is ongoing with the aim of obtaining additional information on the properties of the oil and gas horizon.

Bekturly East onshore site is located in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region and is being operated by Becturly Energy Operating company, which is a joint venture of Kazakhstan’s KMG and Kokel Munay companies.

KMG is the Kazakhstan operator for exploration, production, refining and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state interests in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan.
