Petrofac’s Engineering & Production Services (EPS) division, in joint venture with Isker (Kazakhstan) has secured an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning (EPCC) contract worth approximately $135 million for New Water Treating Facilities for Kazakhstan’s North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC), Trend reports with reference to Petrofac.

The work scope for the 30-month project includes an inlet stream screening to remove debris, feed water tanks with oil skimmer and pumps, a clarifier system including flocculation, coagulation and oil skimmer, treated wastewater storage and pumps, sludge treatment and relative utilities.

“Our portfolio continues to expand with this award, which demonstrates continued progress in our stated EPS strategy to grow the business through relatively small EPC contracts. This is a further award for Petrofac in Kazakhstan following our project management services contract with KPO and represents another important milestone as we focus on continued growth in-country and delivering EPC projects whilst working with local companies,” Mani Rajapathy, Managing Director, Petrofac EPS East, said.

North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) operates major Kashagan oil field in Kazakhstan’s Atyrau region.

The Kashagan field is one of three largest oil fields located in the northern part of the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea. Its recoverable reserves reach approximately 9-13 billion barrels (1-2 billion tons) of oil.

The first commercial oil production started at Kashagan in 2016. The project operator North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) shipped the first million tons of oil for export in early 2017. NCOC has reached a record-breaking volume of oil extraction at the field (390,000-400,000 barrels a day) in 2019.
