The Ministry of Energy has been instructed to coordinate and control the delivery, installation and connection of meters in each district and city of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

On September 14, a video conference was held on control and metering of electricity and natural gas chaired by the president of Uzbekistan.

In seven regions and cities of Uzbekistan, where an automated system for monitoring use of electricity was introduced, collection of payments increased by 40 percent, and accounts receivable decreased by 20 percent. Plans are underway to introduce this system in all regions of the country.

In this regard, the meeting discussed issues of full implementation of automated control and metering systems for electricity and natural gas.

It was noted that about $1.2 billion was allocated for these purposes.

“Just knowing how much energy a consumer has spent is not enough to stop losses and theft in the system. It is necessary to create an integral online system, covering each link in the chain energy producer - backbone networks - distribution networks – consumer”, the president noted.

Almost four million electricity meters have been installed already, of which two million are connected to a single electronic database.

The Khududiy Electr Tarmoklari JSC has been tasked with installing another 3.5 million meters by the end of the year and fully launching the automated system by March 1, 2021.

In addition, it was instructed to install electronic meters at large consumers and business entities, in distribution points and transformers, to connect them to a single electronic database.
