Agency for the Development of Nuclear Energy under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan expressed readiness to comply with all recommendations and requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on nuclear safety, Trend reports referring to the Agency.

During nuclear energy cooperation establishing with IAEA, it is planned to use the broad capabilities of the IAEA to conduct an IAEA's Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review Missions (INIR) in the first half of 2021 to study the nuclear infrastructure of Uzbekistan.

A preliminary INIR mission is being conducted in the format of videoconference to discuss the self-assessment report submitted on behalf of Uzbekistan and develop appropriate proposals based on agreements with the IAEA on November 9-12 this year.

More than 40 specialists from over 20 ministries and departments of Uzbekistan take part in the work of the mission.

The report submitted by Uzbekistan to the IAEA is comprehensively studied, and proposals developed by specialists are discussed.

INIR is a comprehensive peer review to assist the Member States in assessing the state of their national infrastructure for the introduction of nuclear power.

The expertise covers the complex infrastructure required to develop a safe, reliable, and sustainable nuclear power program.

Prior to accepting an INIR mission, a country must self-assess the 19 nuclear power infrastructure issues included in the IAEA Milestones Approach, which is a comprehensive methodology that guides countries and organizations in their systematic work on the introduction of nuclear power.
