Georgia buys more than $750 million worth of oil and oil products every year, Trend reports via Georgian media.
A significant portion of the fuel is intended for 1.2 million vehicles that move through the country; as well as for the tens of thousands of transit trucks and cars that cross Georgian borders every month.
There are only a few major players in the fuel sector that owns a wide chain across the country. Every major player in the oil import market has made its financial statements public.
According to these documents, the information about the assets and owners of the companies is as follows:
SOCAR Georgia Petroleum
● Revenue in 2019 - 668.2 million lari ($204.1 million);
● Net loss in 2019 - 86.8 million lari ($26.5 million);
● Company assets in 2019 - 344.4 million lari ($105.1 million).
Some 100 percent share of the group is owned by SOCAR ENERGY GEORGIA. The company has 115 petrol stations in the country.
GULF
● Revenue in 2019 - 535.3 million lari ($163.5 million);
● Net profit in 2019 - 15.5 million lari ($4.7 million);
● Company assets in 2019 - 231.4 million lari ($70.6 million).
As of December 31, 2019, and 2018, the final owners of the group are JSC "Rosneft" and Davit Iakobashvili, with 49 percent and 38 percent shares, correspondingly. The company is represented by 149 stations located in Georgia.
Rompetrol Georgia
● Revenue in 2018 - $201 million, which was 537 million lari ($164.02 million) during the reporting period;
● Net loss in 2018 - $3.4 million; which was 9.1 million lari ($2.7 million) during the reporting period;
● Company assets in 2018 - $38.6 million, which was 103 million lari ($31.4 million) during the reporting period.
Some 100 percent of the company is owned by KMG International N.V., registered in the Netherlands, and a member of the Kazakh KazMunayGaz group. Its final owner is the Kazakh state investment company Samruk-Kazyna. Rompetrol chain includes 80 petrol stations in the country.
WISSOL PETROLIUM GEORGIA
● Revenue in 2019 - 467.3 million lari ($142.7 million);
● Net profit in 2019 - 36 million lari ($10.9 million);
● Company assets in 2019 - 248.9 million lari ($76.02 million).
The company holds 146 petrol stations in the country.
LUKOIL GEORGIA
● Revenue in 2019 - 248.1 million lari ($75.7 million);
● Net loss in 2019 - 3.2 million lari ($977,454);
● Company assets in 2019 - 65.7 million lari ($20 million).
Lukoil Georgia is owned by LUKOIL Europe Holdings B.V., registered in the Netherlands. And is a member of the Russian Lukoil Group.
