Kazakhstan-based Tethys completes drilling operations at one more site

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 21

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Tethys Petroleum Limited, which operates assets in Kazakhstan and Georgia, has completed drilling on AKD-12 site and two gas intervals are defined to be tested, Trend reports citing the company.

The first interval, Kyzyloi, is approximately 4.6 meters starting at a depth of 588 meters, and the second interval, Tasaran, is 4 meters starting at a depth of 926 meters.

“We are expecting to receive positive results. We did not identify any condensate or oil intervals. Drilling on AKK33 has been completed, but the reservoirs are water bearing,” the company said.

In turn, the KBD-02 well has continued to produce oil from the Upper Aptian zone, and has been averaging approximately 1,860 barrels of oil per day using a 9 mm choke. In total, the well has produced over 300,000 barrels of oil since the beginning of testing.

Tethys is focused on oil and gas exploration and production activities in Central Asia and the Caspian Region.

The company operates four contracts in Kazakhstan: Kyzyloi Production Contract and Akkulka Production Contract (gas contracts), Akkulka Exploration Contract (includes Doris oil field and others), and Kul-bas E&P Contract.

The company plans to increase existing gas production by drilling new wells and tying in existing ones. The company is also in the process of discovering exploration upside potential from the Klymene prospect in the Kul-Bas area.
