Azerbaijan increases electricity generation

Azerbaijan generated over 2.3 billion kilowatt-hours (KWh) of electricity in January 2021, up by 21.2 million kWh compared to the same month of 2020, Trend reports on Feb.17 referring to the country's Energy Ministry.

According to the ministry, electricity exports from Azerbaijan in the reporting month made up 175.1 million kWh, which is year-on-year growth of 61.6 million kWh, while its imports to the country totaled 11 million kWh, increasing by 1.8 million kWh on an annualized basis.

Meanwhile, 2.14 billion kWh (including 2.07 billion kWh at thermal power plants - TPPs) of electricity generation fell on Azerenergy OJSC, 30.4 million kWh (22 million kWh at TPPs, 6.5 million kWh at solar power plant) - on State Energy Service of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, while 189 million kWh was generated at other PPs, and 6.87 million kWh - at WPPs of Azerishig OJSC.
