Azerbaijan publishes Jan. 2021 data on oil shipment via BTC pipeline

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 18

Over 2.5 million tons of oil were transported from Azerbaijan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline in January 2021, which is 6 percent less compared to Jan. 2020, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

As reported, 79.4 percent of all oil transported through the country's main pipelines during the mentioned month accounted for the BTC pipeline.

According to the committee, over 3.16 million tons of oil were transported by main oil pipelines.

In January 2021, about 276,000 tons of transit (Turkmen) oil was pumped through the BTC, which is 27.7 percent less compared to Jan. 2020.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers - Georgia, 1,076 kilometers - Turkey. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
