Kazakh airlines eye boosting jet fuel imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 24

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Airline companies and airports of Kazakhstan intend to increase import of jet fuel from March through May following an increase in demand for the product in this country and a simultaneous reduction in sales of kerosene produced by local refineries, Trend reports citingArgus analytical agency.

Since December 2020, Pavlodar Refinery has suspended the sale of kerosene to the domestic market and began to blend the product with diesel fuel to maintain a stable quality of motor fuel in the winter. Meanwhile, in February, the refinery resumed selling kerosene due to stable demand for the product at the country's airports, according to market participants, the Argus said.

In early spring 2021, the Shymkent refinery plans to stop producing petroleum products due to planned repairs, which will lead to an increase in prices for the product produced by local factories.

"Deliveries of the Russian product to Kazakhstan as of February 23 reached 3,720 tons, while in January shipments amounted to 3,410 tons, according to the data of railway forwarders. Prior to that, Russia shipped kerosene to Kazakhstan in October 2020. The bulk of aviation fuel in this direction this year came from the Omsk refinery of Gazprom Neft, about 1,000 tons of kerosene in February was also shipped from the Orsk refinery of Forteinvest," the report said.
