Iran boosts production of petrochemicals

The production of petrochemicals in Iran increased by 7 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Iran's National Petrochemical Company’s (NPC) Production Control Manager Jalal Mirhashemi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to Mirhashemi, about 5.5 million tons of various petrochemical products were produced in Iran in the first month.

Mirhashemi added that given the existing potential and the steps being taken, production in the Iranian petrochemical sector will increase this year.

The manager noted that so, new facilities are planned to be put into operation in the petrochemical sector. In addition, it is planned to increase the production of facilities in operating, where the production is low compared to the potential.

Reportedly, Iran is implementing two plans to increase the production of petrochemical products. According to the first plan, Iran's petrochemical production will increase from 66 million tons to 100 million tons per year, and the revenues from $15 billion to $25 billion until March 20, 2022.

According to the second plan, Iran's petrochemical production will reach 133 million tons per year and the revenues will reach $37 billion by March 20, 2026.
