Iran’s NIDC begins excavations in Hendijan oil field

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has started drilling of the Tengo 2 well of the Hendijan oil field in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) with the Fath-60 drilling rig, an official of the NIDC Nasrollah Abbasi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to Abbasi, the drilling of the Tengo 2 well has been launched as part of a plan to drill 8 + 6 wells. More than 4,000 meters of drilling work will be carried out in this well.

The official added that so far, the NIDC has completed the drilling of 7 wells within the plan, 1 well is being completed and 2 wells are being drilled.

“The implementation of the plan to drill 8 + 6 wells began in 2018 and is estimated to be completed by the end of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022). The plan is being implemented in Khuzestan, Fars, Bushehr and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces of Iran,” he said.

Abbasi noted that so far, 18 development, delineation, and exploration wells have been drilled with the Fath-60 drilling rig and more than 77,600 meters of drilling work have been carried out.

As reported, the Hendijan oil field is located in the Persian Gulf in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran). There are 9 wells in this field. The extracted oil is transported to the platform of the Bahragan oil field via 10 km of 10 and 12-inch pipelines. Currently, the Hendijan field produces 30,000 barrels of oil daily, and work is underway to increase production from the field to 50,000 barrels daily.
