Ukrainian subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has supplied 500 tons of Lithuanian aviation fuel to Ukraine, Trend reports referring to Ukrainian media.
“Aviation fuel supplies from Lithuania increased by 62 percent compared to May 2020 and reached 3,100 tons. Of these, 1,500 tons were supplied to Amic Ukraine, 800 tons to Glusco Ukraine, 500 tons to SOCAR Energy Ukraine and 200 tons to OKKO and Avia Oil each,” sources say.
In addition, in May 2021, Belarus supplied 2,200 tons of aviation fuel that was totally imported by SOCAR Energy Ukraine.
In May 2021, the import of aviation fuel to Ukrainian market tripled, reaching 6,000 tons, compared to the same period in 2020 (2,200 tons).
Around 32,400 tons of aviation fuel were imported to Ukraine from January through May 2021, which is 24 percent less than in the same period in 2020 (42,700 tons).
Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR’s representative office opened in Ukraine in 2008.
The company acquired about 20 Tala-Nafta filling stations in Odessa and Nikolaev regions. as well as Svitanok large oil depot in Odessa region in 2009.
The company took control of the fuelling networks ONIO (four filling stations in Kyiv and the region) and GFC (in Lviv region) in 2010-2011. SOCAR received permission from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to purchase 26 filling stations and one tank farm of the Kalina group in August 2012.
