TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 21

Trend:

Increasing in gasoline consumption and the beginning of the refineries overhauls leads to a decline in Iran's gasoline export said the Secretary of Iranian Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products Exporters Union (OPEX).

“The Official statistics of Iran's exports have not been published yet, but in the first four months of the last Iranian year (March to June 2020) Iran had about $700 million of gasoline exports,” Seyed Hamid Hosseini said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Referring to the recent shortage of gas in the last winter, he added that Iran had to supply fuel to many power plants through diesel, so it could not fulfill last year's commitments to export gas and part of these commitments was postponed to the current year.

Hosseini announced that Iran is less active in exporting petroleum products in the current year.

"Gasoline consumption in Iran exceeded 100 million liters in July,” Hosseini noted. "The refineries also began their overhauls, so less gasoline was exported during the last 5 months."

The secretary mentioned the export of other oil products such as bitumen, solvents, and petrochemical products.

Iran became a net gasoline exporter in February 2019, after the inauguration of the third phase of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery (PGS) project which added 120,000 barrels to the country’s daily gasoline production.
