Iran sees increase in electricity generation

The electricity generation in Iran increased by 16.1 percent in the spring of this year (March 21 through June 22, 2021) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).

According to the statistics, Iran generated 93.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity within the mentioned period.

So, the generation of electricity by gas fired, combined cycle power plants for the reporting period, increased by 26 percent, while the same for hydroelectric power plants, wind turbines and nuclear power plants decreased by 34 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“From the mentioned 93.2 billion, about 70.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were sold in the country this spring, which is an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period last year. About 68 percent of 70.3 billion was sold to industry and housing sectors,” the statistics said.
