Iran’s refineries boost crude oil refining

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 15

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran’s refineries have increased crude oil and gas condensate refining by 6 percent, from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to December 15, an official of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Saeed Maddah Moravej said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to Moravej, an average of daily 2.17 million barrels of crude oil and gas condensate were processed at the country's refineries this year.

“Meanwhile, last year, crude oil and gas condensate refining amounted to 2.04 million barrels per day,” he added.

The official noted that the increase was achieved due to certain repairs and related operations at some refineries. As a result, manufacturing of some products, such as gasoline and diesel, has increased.

"Along with the increase in production, gasoline consumption also increased by 15 percent in the current Iranian year. If last year an average of 75.5 million liters of gasoline was consumed per day, the figure has risen to 86 million liters per day this year," Moravej said.

According to the report of NIORDC, the Iran currently has the potential to produce 103-105 million liters of gasoline per day in optimal conditions, and the country produces an average 95 million liters of gasoline per day.
