The Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TORC) is preparing for the industrial production of RON-98 fuel, Trend reports citing the website of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas complex of Nebit-Gaz.

To bring the quality indicators in line with the Euro 6 emissions standards, the plant modified the manufacturing process and established a thorough control over the quality indicators of the produced fuel components.

So far, the plant has manufactured as many as 14.36 tons of RON-98.

The TORC performed special laboratory tests to determine the new product's composition, which revealed that it met K5 environmental requirements and Euro 6 emissions standards.

Furthermore, the Dutch Saybolt company also certified the Turkmen plant's product with K5 environmental requirements and Euro 6 emissions standards.

EURO 6 is an environmental standard that limits the amount of harmful substances in exhaust gases. According to its specifications, the sulfur content in 1 kg of fuel in environmental class K5 should not exceed 10 mgs. The presence of harmful monomethylaniline is also strictly prohibited.

Currently, the Turkmenstandartlary main state service is working on entering the RON-98 fuel into the state register as a new type of petroleum product and issuing a certificate of conformity.

The complex also introduces Jet A-1, a new brand of aviation fuel that is used in gas turbine engines of civil aviation aircraft in Europe, the US, and Canada, including Airbus and Boeing jetliners.

In September 2021, the plant started producing aviation gasoline for AN-2 light single-engine aircraft, which had previously been imported from abroad.
