BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. Electricity generation of the Esfahan Thermal Power Plant in the Isfahan Province (central Iran) increased by 15 percent, in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), compared to the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 20 through March 20, 2022), head of the thermal power plant Abbas Karimi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.
The official noted that the Esfahan TPP has generated more than 263 million kilowatt-hours of electricity within the first month.
Karimi also added that at present, the operation of the second steam unit of the thermal power plant with a generation capacity of 320 megawatt-hours has been suspended for repairs.
Iran's Esfahan Thermal Power Plant is located on an area of about 74 hectares. The power plant has 5 units and can generate a total of 835 megawatt-hours of electricity.
The thermal power plant supplies about two-thirds of Isfahan Province’s electricity needs.
