Iran eyes to generate big revenues thanks to its new small plant

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. Iran is expected to generate big revenues thanks to the exports of a new small gas condensate demercaptanization plant in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran), officially launched on August 29, 2022, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

He made the remark at the event dedicated to the commissioning of the mentioned small plant in Bushehr Province on August 29.

Prior to official opening, the plant has been in action for about two months, and the deputy minister said that 10 million barrels of demercaptanized gas condensate from the plant have been exported, brining back about $45-$46 million in revenue.

“If this continues, the funds spent on this plant will be returned within the next 3-4 months. The plant was built and commissioned by local specialists,” Khojasteh Mehr added.

On August 29, Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) launched new gas condensate demercaptanization plant in Bushehr Province (southern Iran). The plant has the capacity to demercaptanize 80,000 barrels of gas condensate per day.

A total of 74 million euro and 2.61 trillion rials (about $62.1 million) has been spent on the construction and launch of the mentioned plant.

The estimations are that the POGC’s annual revenues from the mentioned plant should be more than $110 million.
