BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 18. The volume of transit oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline stood at 5.104 million tons in 2022, versus 3.5 million in 2021, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan’s State Statistical Committee.

As such BTC’s transit oil transportation grew by 41.8 percent year-on-year.

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan transported 29.7 million tons of oil, accounting for 78.7 percent of 37.781 million tons of oil pumped via Azerbaijan’s main oil pipelines, as compared to 26.42 million tons or 75.5 percent of 35.018 million transported in 2021.

The total length of the BTC oil pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers - through the territory of Georgia, and 1,076 kilometers - through the territory of Türkiye. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003, and its filling with oil began on May 18, 2005.

The shareholders of BTC Co, which was established on August 1, 2002, are: BP (30.1 percent), SOCAR (25 percent), MOL (8.9 percent), Equinor (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), TotalEnergies (5 percent), ITOCHU (3.4 percent), INPEX (2.5 percent), ExxonMobil (2.5 percent) and ONGCVidesh (2.36 percent).
