BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. Azerbaijan exported methanol worth almost $132 million in 2022, Trend reports via the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, a total of 534,500 tons of methanol were produced, which is 41.5 percent higher than in 2021.
During the reporting period, 94.4 percent, or 504,334 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) were exported. According to the report, the share of methanol in Azerbaijan's exports in the non-oil sector amounted to 4.33 percent in 2022, and in total exports - 0.35 percent.
As of January 1, 2023, there are 35,000 tons of manufactured goods.
SOCAR Methanol LLC of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is engaged in the production of methanol in Azerbaijan. The plant is the only producer of methyl alcohol in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, which has started functioning since January 2014. The annual capacity of the plant is around 720,000 tons.
