BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3. Iran's West Oil and Gas Production Company (WOGPC) has resumed production from well No. 21 in the Dehloran oil field, in recent days, Executive Director of the company, Ali Rezaee said, Trend reports citing Iranian Central Oil Fields Company’s website.
According to Rezaee, currently, 1,000 barrels of crude oil are being produced from the mentioned well in the Dehloran field.
He also added that due to the increase of solid obstacles in well No. 21 the production has been stopped since the 7th month of last Iranian year (September 23 through October 22, 2022). Specialists of Iran's Iranian Central Oil Fields Company, WestOil and Gas Production Company and National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) carried out operations for the repair of the well for about 6 months.
“At present, a number of steps are being taken in cooperation with local start-up companies in order to resume production from wells, of which operations have been suspended, as well as increase production from low-yield oil fields under the control of the West Oil and Gas Production Company,” the director noted.
The Dehloran oil field (this field is called Abu Ghraib in Iraq) is located 180 km south of Kermanshah city and 22 km southwest of Dehloran county. The Dehloran field was discovered in 1972. The field contains 4.21 billion barrels of crude oil, of which 635 million barrels are extractable.
Iran's West Oil and Gas Production Company are one of three subsidiaries of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC). The company has been operating since 1999 and covers the Kermanshah, Ilam and Lorestan provinces of Iran. The company can produce 165,000 barrels of crude oil and 7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
