BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. In September 2023, the STAR oil refinery, under the ownership of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, achieved a notable 34.3 percent increase in the production of aviation fuel compared to the same month in the previous year, Trend reports.
In September 2023, the facility manufactured 148,036 tons of aviation fuel, a substantial rise from the 110,250 tons produced in September 2022, based on data from Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
During the period when demand for aviation fuel was reduced due to COVID-19 restrictions, STAR demonstrated agility by repurposing its production capacity of 1.6 million tons of aviation fuel to produce diesel fuel. Following the lifting of restrictions, the plant swiftly resumed aviation fuel production to meet the growing demand.
The STAR plant, with an investment value of $6.3 billion, was inaugurated in October 2018, with approximately $3.3 billion of the project's expenses covered by borrowed funds. The plant boasts an annual processing capacity of 10 million tons and can process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
