Crude oil supplies to SOCAR’s refinery in Türkiye decline

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. The STAR oil refinery of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye received 1.013 million tons of oil in November 2023, according to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Türkiye (EPDK), Trend reports.

This marks a 1.9 percent decrease in oil supplies to the refinery compared to the 1.033 million tons delivered during the same period in 2022.

According to the EPDK report, during this period, the plant produced various petroleum products, including about 592,888 tons of diesel fuel, 1,998 tons of biodiesel containing diesel fuel, 7,140 tons of high sulfur fuel oil, 64,764 tons of aviation fuel, 4,979 tons of other intermediate products, 128,040 tons of other products, 11,977 tons of heavy vacuum gas oil, 14,966 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 135,837 tons of naphtha, 66,347 tons of petcoke, 42,398 tons of gas, and 11,893 tons of high-sulfur diesel fuel.

The STAR oil refinery, with an investment cost of $6.3 billion, commenced operations in October 2018, with $3.3 billion of the project's expenses financed through loans. The total investment in the STAR refinery is expected to reach $7 billion.

Featuring an annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons, the plant is capable of processing 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
