ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 20. Azerbaijan purchased a total of over 245.9 million cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan from January through March this year, Trend reports.
According to the data from the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, during the specified period, the volume of natural gas purchases from Turkmenistan was 24 percent higher, compared with the first three months of 2023, which amounted to over 197.4 million cubic meters.
Furthermore, in monetary terms, Azerbaijan's purchase of natural gas from Turkmenistan from January through March this year amounted to over $36.8 million, which is 27 percent more than in the same period of 2023, when it amounted to over $28.9 million.
During the specified period, Azerbaijan imported all its natural gas exclusively from Turkmenistan.
Azerbaijan significantly increased natural gas imports from Turkmenistan last year, reaching about 1.51 billion cubic meters, which is 77 percent more than the 857 million cubic meters recorded in 2022.
Last year, Azerbaijan's natural gas imports from Turkmenistan amounted to $218.22 million, a substantial increase of 96.8 percent compared to $110.87 million in 2022.
