SOCAR plans to complete drilling of 3 operating wells on Guneshli in 2006

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to complete drilling of 3 operating wells on shallow Guneshli field in the first half-year of 2006, SOCAR told Trend. SOCAR did not manage to complete drilling work on the fields in 2005 due to some problems.

The Company is currently drilling 4 operating wells. The project depth of well 427 on the oil and gas producing platform GMSP-13 comprises 3,170 meters. Drilling work is carried out at 2,800 meters depth. Drilling work of well 417 on platform GMSP-14 is carried out at 2,700 meters depth with 3,630 meters depth. The project depth of well 73 on stationary platform GMSP- N19 comprises 3,900 meters with drilled 3,000 meters. The work is carried out by Bail Limany Offshore Drilling Unit.

The shallow Guneshli field is developed from 1980. It locates in the south-east of Absheron Peninsula and provides around 65% of Azerbaijani oil production, 83% of offshore production of the country. Residual reserves are estimated from 94m to 130m tons.
