In 2005, the record volume of gas was produced in underground gas reserves 1 billion 0.25 mln cm, and it allowed providing the population with gas in winter of 2006 without any problems. In 2004, Azerigaz received around 846 mln cm of gas from underground gas reserve.

Today, Azerbaijan exploits two reserves Garadakh and Kalmaz gas reserves. They are in capacity of 1-1.1 billion cm of gas. It is intended that during the expansion works in Karadakh underground reserve, its capacity will be increased up to 2-2.2 billion cm and Kalmaz 1-1.2 billion cm. At the moment, the talks are being held for financing. The works are intended to be carried out within 2 years. The World Bank shows interest in financing the project.
