Azerbaijan records most operations with corporate securities done in secondary market

The total volume of transactions on corporate securities at the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 2.13 billion manat ($1.25 billion) in 2020, Trend reports citing the data of the BSE.

In total, 2,691 transactions were carried out during the reporting period. Some 2,496 transactions (92.7 percent) worth more than 1.7 billion manat ($1 billion) accounted for the secondary market.

In particular, 2,035 shares worth 29.9 million manat ($17.6 million) and 461 bonds worth 1.7 billion manat were sold.

Besides, 100 transactions or 4 percent of all transactions in the secondary market accounted for the sale of mortgage bonds in the amount of 1.67 billion manat ($980 million).

In the primary market 195 transactions (7.2 percent) costing nearly 402.5 million manat ($236.7 million) were carried out. Some 55 shares worth 50 million manat ($29.4 million) and 140 bonds worth over 352.4 million manat ($207.3 million) were sold.

Some 14 transactions (7.2 percent) in the primary market accounted for the sale of mortgage bonds in the amount of 250.8 million manat ($147.5 million).

REPO transactions on corporate securities for 11 months of this year amounted to 36.78 million manat ($21.6 million). In total, 1,322 REPO transactions were carried out on the BSE in 2020.
