Number of bank accounts increases in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan

The number of bank accounts opened in banks of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic reached 93,600 as of early March 2021, Trend reports on March 19 with reference to the report of the State Statistics Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

This indicator shows an annual growth by 7,700 accounts (nine percent). Some 81,340 bank accounts or 86.9 percent are active. Some 5,886 out of 5,887 bank accounts opened from January through February 2021 have an active status.

In total, during the first two months of 2021, banks and credit organizations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic issued the loans to legal entities and individuals in the amount of over 31.8 million manat ($18.7 million).

The implementation of the "Program on expansion of the implementation of digital payment services and non-cash settlements in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2019-2022", approved upon the order of the chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated August 9, 2019, creates new opportunities for the development of the infrastructure of e-payments, accelerating of turnover of funds and reduction of cash payments in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
