Lending to the household sector in Azerbaijan rose by 12 percent in the first half of 2021, compared to the first half of 2020, reaching 7.32 billion manat ($4.3 billion), Trend reports citing statistics from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, of the total lending to industry and production, 1.06 billion manat or $623.5 million (15.1 percent) fell on short-term loans. Of these, loans for 885.3 million manat ($520.7 million) were issued in national currency, 178.6 million manat ($105 million) - in foreign.
“Long-term loans reached 6 billion manat ($3.53 billion), or 84.9 percent of the total lending. Of these loans, 5.74 billion manat ($3.37 billion) were issued in the national currency, 258.9 million manat ($152.3 million) - in foreign,” the CBA said.
“Household loans were issued mainly in national currency. Thus, loans in national currency totaled 93.8 percent or about 6.63 billion manat ($3.9 billion) of the total lending to the sector,” the report said.
The share of households in lending to the real sector in the reporting period amounted to 48 percent, having increased by 3.1 percent over the year.
