BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 21. The Energy Industry Council (EIC), bringing together 29 major oil and gas companies worldwide, has published a report titled Global Net Zero Jeopardy, expressing concerns about the possibility of achieving global emission reduction targets by 2030, Trend reports.
"EIC conducted a survey for the Global Net Zero Jeopardy Report, and 89 percent of respondents from 29 energy companies noted that global emission targets by 2030 cannot be achieved due to issues in the supply chain and a lack of funding for greenhouse gas reduction measures," the report said.
The report highlighted the insufficient number of zero-emission infrastructure projects and a shortage of qualified specialists in implementing 'green' trends as negative factors.
However, respondents also noted that the Net Zero targets for 2050 could be achieved, and optimism is linked to the implementation of each participating country's national commitments under the UN Paris Agreement on climate change.
