ECO Post Administrations’ Meeting to Take Place in Azerbaijan

Азербайджан, Баку / Trend / The 4th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization's (ECO) postal administrations to include Pakistan, Turkey, Iran,  Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will be held in Baku on 9 October. Azerbaijan will be represented by Azerpocht State enterprise.

The heads of the delegations will deliver reports on development of postal services in their countries, as well as on implementation of the decisions taken during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd meetings of the ECO postal administrations. Postal communications cooperation among the ECO countries held in compliance with the plan on development of telecommunications and postal communications in ECO region will be discussed.

The meeting will last by 10 October.

By the decision of the 14th congress of the World Post Union the World Post Day is marked on 9 October (the World Post Union was established on 9 October 1974).

Azerpocht is the only state post operator in Azerbaijan. It renders all kind of post services on tariffs established by the State both for juridical entities and people.

Azerpocht includes 74 post branches and post junctions, 1,513 post offices and 144 post agencies. Incomes of the enterprise increased by AZN 1,237,000 within the 1st 9 months of 2007.

A total of 179 new jobs have been opened since the beginning of the year. Average monthly salary in that period made up AZN 81.21. Since the beginning of the year Azerpocht opened and put into exploitation 74 new post offices 5 post agencies.
