An Azerbaijani IT company finished creating a GIS tourism network this week.
SINAM will unveil the network on an Internet portal later this year, the company's business development director, Islam Ahmadov, told Trend.
"The system has been successfully tested and will be fully functional by late 2010," he added.
The GIS project will allow users to receive detailed information about Azerbaijani tourist sites over the Internet. The system will function out of a specialized Internet portal.
The project will also provide a virtual base for the full-fledged visualization of tourist sites in Azerbaijan. The project is implemented jointly with the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
Today, GIS systems are used in the ecology, military, agriculture, construction, development and mining sectors.
