Uzbekistan's mobile communication operator Coscom launches HSPA+ technology

The HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access) was launched by FE Coscom LLC in the mobile network of 3G technology, the operator said.

Tests of HSPA+ enabled 3G network have been completed by UCell in its Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) network and Huawei terminals, reaching peak transmission speed of 39 Mbps.
Coscom has become the first operator in Uzbekistan launching HSPA+.

As earlier reported, Coscom launched 3G network in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara in February 2009 and the fourth generation mobile network - 4G based on Long-Term Evolution in Tashkent in July 2010. ZTE Corporation supplied equipment for UCell 4G network.

TeliaSonera acquired Coscom in mid 2007 through acquiring MCT Corp., a US-based company. Currently, TeliaSonera holds 94 percent share in Coscom, which renders services under UCell brand.

Subscribers' base of Coscom, mobile operator owned by TeliaSonera, increased by 1.4 times - up to seven million subscribers in 2010.
