The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations showed interest in "Robust Noise Monitoring" (RNM) diagnostic and management system stations of the Institute of Control Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Director of the Institute Telman Aliyev told Trend July 3.

Aliyev noted that, if the organization is engaged in financing the project, its coverage can be significantly expanded, and the experiments will be more effective, if several countries are involved in the project.

"Today we have memorandums with the relevant institutions of Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Italy, Greece and other countries. However, financing is necessary for involving these countries into the project," Aliyev said.

As for the use of RNM stations in the country, Aliyev said the Institute plans to ensure their effective use by creating the necessary technical conditions for their operation.

"This requires a stable power supply stations and uninterrupted access to internet. It has also been envisaged to adapt them to harsh climatic conditions. Work in this direction will be carried out in stages," Aliyev said.

Currently, 10 RNM stations are installed in the territory of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The stations allow for carrying out experimental works on monitoring of anomalous phenomena. They are able to record abnormal seismic processes in advance of their surface manifestation. The essence of the work plan is to cover most of the territories by the specified stations, which will allow for determining the earthquake epicenters with high accuracy.
