Azerbaijan Banks Association names priorities for mobile banking dev't

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The creation of convenient and secure mobile banking (mobile apps of banks) is one of the priority areas for Azerbaijani banks, Tamerlan Rustamov, Head of the expert group ‘On Payment Systems and Digital Banking’ of the Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA), told Trend.

According to Rustamov, local banks, first of all, form a convenient platform that is able to meet the functional needs of customers.

"Expansion of the service chain is one of the important priorities in the development of mobile banking services. Along with traditional banking services such as making payments, receiving bank statements, banks are expanding the scope of services that bring additional income (value-added services). The opportunity to take an online queue through mobile banking, the introduction of mechanisms for VAT refund, making payments based on a QR code, paying with a mobile phone without a payment card, obtaining additional information about banking products and services, the infrastructure of payment terminals, issuing digital and co-branded payment cards (with the properties of a bank and bonus (discount) cards) have a positive effect on attracting a new client segment," Rustamov said.

Along with this, according to the head of the ABA expert group, the focus of banks is on measures to ensure the security of mobile banking services.

“As part of comprehensive security measures, monitoring and regular assessment of risks in mobile banking are carried out. In this regard, a set of measures is being carried out, such as conducting intervention tests, using biometric identification methods when entering the Mobile Bank, requiring a one-time password when registering a payment card, informing bank customers about security requirements through various channels and other measures,” he said.
