By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Today's results of digital transformation will not be at the previous level, Acting Director of the Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy Arzu Huseynova told Trend.

"The number of e-commerce platforms has increased in Azerbaijan,” Huseynova added. “Today's results of digital transformation will not be at the previous level. The level of industrialization in Azerbaijan is higher than in neighboring countries, which makes the country closer to achieving the goals of the Fourth Industrial Revolution."

“The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a change in consumer patterns, having a great impact on consumption patterns, which has led to a sharp increase in “business-to-consumer” sales (B2C) and an increase in B2B e-commerce,” the acting director said.

"The COVID-19 pandemic also affected the behavior of consumers, who began to visit the usual offline trading platforms less, preferring online stores," Huseynova said.

“These and other factors lead to the forecasts of great growth in the online market soon,” the acting director said.

"In accordance with some estimates, the volume of online sales is expected to approach $6.5 trillion by 2023, whereas in 2019 this figure was $3.5 trillion," Huseynova said.
