BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 1

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

One successful phishing attack on each 25th websites in the ".az" domain zone (registered for Azerbaijan) was recorded in August 2021, which is four percent of the total number of attacks registered in the national domain of internet resources, Trend reports on Sept. 1 citing a report of the Netcraft analytical company.

According to the company, a total of 1,510 Azerbaijani websites faced phishing attacks in August 2021, the number of which increased by almost nine times as compared to July 2021.

"Up until now, more than 37,700 were registered in the ".az" domain zone," the company said.

According to Netcraft, every 134th website in Ukraine, every 21st website in Russia, every 522nd website in Belarus, every 19th website in Latvia, every 173rd website in Lithuania, every 16th website in Estonia, every 334th website in Kazakhstan, every 24th website in Uzbekistan and every 124th website in Georgia faced with 1 phishing attack.

The phishing attack is carried out by sending a big number of emails on behalf of popular brands. The emails often contain a direct link to a fake brand site that does not visually differ from the real one. By entering such a site, the user can provide hackers with valuable information that allows them to gain access to their personal accounts and bank accounts.
