BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. This week, the Speedtest Global Index rating has published its latest outlook, where Azerbaijan has ranked 55th with an access speed of 40.97 Mbit/s, which makes the country the leader in mobile Internet speed among in the region, Trend reports.
Azerbaijan is also preparing amendments to the draft law "On the protection of personal information". Within the framework of this law, modern standards of personal data protection will be applied.
Due to the rapid growth of technology and cyber attacks, there was a need to accelerate the adoption of a new bill to protect Azerbaijani citizens. Therefore, the relevant structures have prepared changes. At the moment, the draft law is at the approval stage.
Azerbaijan is actively using the advantages of digital technologies to upgrade its economy.
Rector of the Southern University (Russia), Doctor of Economics, Professor Imran Akperov noted during his speech that digital consciousness is a critical factor in the formation of human capital in reintegration processes, and Azerbaijan is attracting interest of the international community in this context.
“Digitalization of society is becoming an integral part of the modern world, and Azerbaijan is actively using the advantages of digital technologies to upgrade its economy and social infrastructure. With the development of digital consciousness, regarding the ability to adapt to digital tools and use them effectively, Azerbaijan is strengthening its international positions,” Akperov said.
"Azerbaijan is actively implementing digital tools and platforms that improve access to education, healthcare, information and other important resources for reintegrating groups. Digital consciousness is not only a set of skills, but also a cultural phenomenon that forms sustainable values and an understanding of the need for active participation in digital society," the rector said.
Azerbaijan is taking steps to develop digital consciousness among its citizens, especially among young people, which gives hope for the future development of the country and the improvement of its human capital, Akperov noted.
Moreover, digital payments are expected to grow by 25 percent in the national payment system of Azerbaijan by 2026, while the share of non-cash transactions in the total turnover will reach 55 percent.
Visa is also working on expanding the B2B Connect project in Azerbaijan.
