Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / The discussions of the draft People's Computer project by a special working group has been postponed from 25 May to 5 June, a source at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and IT reported on 26 May.
The working group includes the experts of several ministries, Intel and Microsoft companies.
The date of meeting has been postponed due to overloaded schedule of the working group's members. The meeting on the project will be the second. During last meeting it was considered expedient to make some changes and amendments in the project before submission to the Government.
The core of the People's Computer project lies in provision of poor strata of the population with computers at a long-term credit with low interest rate. The versions of financing by either the Government or foreign companies are been considered.
Microsoft proposes licenced software, while Intel provides for due hardware at a discount.
According to rough guess of the Communications and IT Ministry, 3-4 computers fall on each 100 people in Azerbaijan. The implementation of the project will enable a 5-fold increase of the figure.
